£65m Man Utd target is now very keen to sign for Arsenal

And with that, Bukayo Saka is back. Arsenal have longed for the poster boy of their project to turn up in this title race and on a wet and windy day at the Emirates Stadium, he duly delivered.

Truth be told, by Saka’s high standards, this has been an underwhelming season on a personal note. Yes, he has struggled with injuries, but his goal and assist count is way down on what you’ve typically expect.

Before he rifled home Arsenal’s second goal on Saturday as the Gunners beat Fulham 3-0, he had not scored in his last seven games. In fact, he had only netted two goals since December.

Yet, he is now back in form, not just scoring but also providing the assist with a brilliant piece of skill to supply Viktor Gyokeres with his opener.

There was a huge improvement in the quality of Arsenal’s attacking play but that doesn’t mean their plans for this summer should change.

Arsenal targeting new winger this summer

Arsenal may have scored the most goals in the Premier League this term but that does not paint the full picture.

In recent weeks, they have struggled significantly in the final third. Until their 3-0 win on Sunday, Arteta’s men had not scored more than one goal in a game over their last eight matches.

It sparked a serious debate about what needs to change. A left winger should certainly be at the top of the agenda, with links to the likes of Bradley Barcola and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia emerging in recent weeks.

Another player on their radar is Ajax’s Mika Godts. The Belgian is one of the most exciting wingers in Europe right now and has plenty of teams after his signature, including Manchester United.

Yet, it’s Arsenal who appear to be in pole position to secure his services. That’s according to club insider Hand of Arsenal, who took to social media this weekend to reveal the following.

He said: “Arsenal are tracking Mika Godts. My understanding is the Belgian would be very open to joining Arsenal should we step up our interest and make a serious play for him.”

It’s unlikely to be a cheap deal with previous reports suggesting it could take £65m to prise him away from the Eredivisie.

Why Godts could be Arsenal’s new Saka

Arsenal simply have to sign a new winger this summer. If they don’t, it will be a huge failure on Andrea Berta’s part.

This season, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard have struggled significantly. The former has found the net just once in the Premier League throughout 2025/26 and the latter has not scored in his last 23 games. He hasn’t scored at all in 2026.

That said, Trossard did improve significantly against Fulham on Saturday. Godts’ international colleague delivered a glorious assist for Gyokeres’ third goal, created two big chances in general and completed all six of his dribbles. It was a mesmerising performance from the Belgian.

However, now is the time to get rid of him. It’s time for Godts to arrive. A left winger by trade, the 20-year-old looks every bit a right-footed Saka.

This campaign, the young forward has scored 17 goals and provided 14 assists in 40 games. Not just a goalscorer, he’s an extremely good creator too.

He manages to create plenty of space through his dribbling ability and progressive nature. Like Saka, his ability to fashion opportunities for others to score from is first-class. Only three players in Europe’s top seven leagues this term have created over 70 chances and completed over 70 take-ons.

One of them is Godts and the other two are Juventus’ Kenan Yildiz and Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal. He’s in fine company already.

A remarkable dribbler, he’s great in tight spaces and ranks imcredibly closely to Saka for both take-ons and chance creation across the ongoing season.

There may well be fears regarding this deal. The way Antony performed after arriving from Dutch football is well documented but there have been recent success stories. Arsenal only need to look at Jurrien Timber to realise that. Robin van Persie did alright after trading the Netherlands for England too.

If the move turned out to be anywhere near as successful as that, Arsenal would have a mighty fine player on their hands, potentially even another version of Saka.

With Trossard and Martinelli underperforming for a while now, Godts signature is simply a must this summer.
