Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace monitoring FC Midtjylland talent Franculino Dju

Premier League trio Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace have reportedly taken notice of FC Midtjylland youngster Franculino Dju.

Having transferred from the Benfica youth system to FC Midtjylland in 2023, Franculino Dju, 20, has performed well in the senior team this season. He has managed to score five goals in 14 league appearances in the Danish Superliga, which has alerted several clubs across the Europe.

The Guinea-Bissau talent, who has also caught the attention of Leicester City, has a contract with FC Midtjylland until 2029. A move to the Premier League would entice the young forward but there also clubs from other European leagues who may look to tempt him in the summer. Midtjylland are wary of the growing interest in Dju and aim to make a sizeable profit from his sale at the end of the season.

Premier League clubs vying for Franculino Dju’s signature

Newcastle United and Aston Villa are fighting to finish in the top four, although the latter have the chance of winning the Champions League this season. Both the teams have performed well in the Premier League and should have the advantage in the race for Franculino Dju’s signature.

Under Oliver Glasner, Crystal Palace have been slowly making progress and could be an interesting project to consider for Midtjylland’s Dju. The Eagles’ roster is filled with young talents, and Dju could be another smart long-term investment if he decides to join Glasner’s forces.

Meanwhile, Leicester City are battling against under relegation under Ruud van Nistelrooy. They occupy the 19th spot in the table after 26 games, having lost four of their last five league games. The Foxes appear doomed for the drop back to the Championship, which would make it tough for them to sign a highly-regarded prospect in Dju.

If considered within the Premier League circuit, the battle for Dju’s signature will realistically be between Newcastle and Villa. Both have exciting projects headed by Eddie Howe and Unai Emery, perhaps it may come down to finances involved in a potential transfer and guarantee of European football.
