Birmingham cause a stir with a series of cheeky social media posts after their late win against Swansea on Saturday.

Lyndon Dykes, who had just been subbed with the game in the closing stages, produced a strike deep in stoppage-time that sent the home fans wild.

The only goal of the game secured the Blues’ second home win of the Championship season, while it was their third out of their six opening games.

It leaves them 8th in the standings with 10 points, while for Swansea, they sit 10th with 8 points, also from 6 games played.

Was this onside?!

The admin of Birmingham’s Twitter couldn’t help but poke fun at their opposition. Responding to a video posted by Swansea from their 3-2 Carabao Cup win against Nottingham Forest in midweek, but also shared by the Second Tier podcast, who captioned their post “Look at this football. Are Swansea back? 😍🦢”, Birmingham simply reposted it with the 🤭 emoji.

Then they responded to a Swansea fan who had said their side was robbed. To which Birmingham put up a photo of Swansea co-owner and investor Snoog Dogg looking shocked.

Birmingham: Ryan Allsop, Bright Osayi-Samuel (Ethan Laird, 67), Christoph Klarer (captain), Jack Robinson, Alex Cochrane (Eiran Cashin, 80), Tomoki Iwata, Paik Seung-Ho (Tommy Doyle, 87), Demarai Gray, Lewis Koumas (Patrick Roberts, 67), Marvin Ducksch (Kyogo Furuhashi, 67), Jay Stansfield (Lyndon Dykes, 87).

Subs not used: James Beadle, Phil Neumann, Marc Leonard.

Swansea: Lawrence Vigouroux, Josh Key, Ben Cabango (captain), Marko Stamenic, Zan Vipotnik (Adam Idah, 74), Josh Tymon, Cameron Burgess, Goncalo Franco (Liam Cullen, 90), Zeidane Inoussa (Jisung Eom, 74), Ethan Galbraith (Malick Yalcouye, 89), Ronald (Melker Widell, 90).

Subs not used: Andy Fisher, Ishe Samuels-Smith, Manuel Benson, Kaelan Casey.

Birmingham’s Chris Davies, per Sky Sports:

“Lyndon’s been with me for one whole season and he’s been really effective coming on as a substitute and making those big moments.

“I can think of Bradford in the Vertu Trophy last season, he did it at Blackburn earlier this season. There’s been a few others as well. He’s been an important part of the squad.

“I spoke to Lyndon on the phone when he was away with Scotland. We speak a lot – I talk to all the players about where they stand.

“And he wants to be here, to work hard, to fight for his place and he’s clearly showed today what contribution you can make. He’s come back and he’s been great. I’m so pleased he’s here – and in my time here he’s had a few big moments.

“He’s professional – a really reliable player and, as far as I’m concerned, he can keep on having moments like that because it’s going to be all the better for us.”

Swansea’s Alan Sheehan, per BBC Sport:

“I think we were very brave. In the first half, we’ve had enough chances. I believe one of the decisions is [incorrect] when we scored. I need to see it back, but from what I’m hearing [it was onside]. These are big decisions.

“Two teams going after it, really. I think we had the better of it. I think a lot of stoppages in the second half, we struggled to get momentum, and then they get that one moment of real equality in in the 94th minute. That’s the way it is sometimes.

“The second half, you’re probably thinking it’s going to be 0-0, they go a bit direct, bring on a bit more size, get a bit more territory with corners, long throws, et cetera. Then one cross, spare man in the box and that’s the difference between the teams today.”

As mentioned, Birmingham cause a stir with their cheeky social media posts after the late win against Swansea…
