After that tie, Cameroon saw off South Africa 2-1, despite a late rally by Bafana Bafana.
The Indomitable Lions led through Stoke City’s Junior Tchamadeu in the first half, with the goal given after a lengthy VAR check, and doubled the advantage when youngster Christian Kofane headed home, two minutes after the break.
Kofane was unable to wrap things up when latching onto a through ball by Mbeumo but, instead, Evidence Makgopa reduced the arrears late on, netting from close range.
However, Cameroon held out to set up a date with Morocco on Friday, kicking off at 19:00 GMT at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
