Police issue a statement after fans were seen fighting and homophobic chanting was heard as Chelsea beat Leeds 1-0 in the FA Cup.

Video footage has emerged since the game, one of Chelsea supporters singing “Oh when the Blues go steaming in” down Wembley Way before it then shows fans pushing, shoving, with some fans down on the ground.

Those watching on shouted “everyone chill out” while others tried to separate those caught up in the chaos. A video has since emerged…

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Sunday’s FA Cup Semi-Final between Leeds and Chelsea at Wembley passed off largely without incident.

“There were 14 arrests in or around the stadium for offences including GBH (grievous bodily harm), ABH (actual bodily harm), affray, assault on an emergency worker, common assault and tailgating.

“A further 18 people were not arrested but will be reported for consideration of prosecution for other offences. This includes 16 Leeds fans who were seen and heard to be engaged in homophobic chanting.”

Leeds fans tried giving it to Gusto after the game, so he rubbed it back in their face.

A statement issued by Chelsea Pride: “A semi-final at Wembley Stadium should be a moment of pride, anticipation and celebration.

“For LGBTQ+ fans, it remains a moment of inevitability, the expectation that we will once again be subjected to homophobic abuse.

“At the FA Cup semi-final between Chelsea and Leeds United, that expectation was realised.

“Across key fan areas – including Wembley Park station, Wembley Way and Empire Way, groups of Leeds United supporters repeatedly and openly chanted “rent boy” This was not isolated. It was sustained, targeted homophobic abuse, in full public view, before and after the match.

“This behaviour took place in the presence of officers from the Metropolitan Police.

“They saw it. They heard it. They did not act.

“Even when this was explicitly reported as a homophobic hate crime, there was no intervention.

“The Metropolitan Police have since confirmed that 16 Leeds fans will be considered for prosecution for homophobic chanting, alongside 14 arrests for other offences, while stating the event “passed off largely without incident”.

“This position is impossible to reconcile with the lived reality of those present.

“Sixteen individuals do not represent the scale, volume, or visibility of the abuse witnessed across multiple locations over a sustained period of time.

“Homophobic chanting, including the “rent boy” slur, recognised by the Crown Prosecution Service as a hate crime, was widespread and unchecked.

“The gap between what happened and what has been acknowledged is stark.

“This is not simply a failure of enforcement. It is a failure of protection.

“It sends a clear and damaging message to LGBTQ+ supporters, that even when hate crime is visible, reported, and understood, it may still be ignored.

“Chelsea Pride will not accept that reality.

“We are demanding urgent answers from the Metropolitan Police Service:

* Why was there no immediate intervention in response to repeated homophobic chanting?

* What operational decisions led to officers standing by while hate crime was taking place?

* How does the Met justify describing this event as “largely without incident”?

* How will the Met ensure that LGBTQ+ supporters are actively protected in future?

“Football cannot continue to promote inclusion while those responsible for enforcing the law fail to act in the moments that matter most.

“This is about safety.

“This is about dignity.

“This is about whether LGBTQ+ fans can exist in football without being targeted.

“Right now, the answer is no.”

Social media users reacted after police issue a statement with fans seen fighting and homophobic chanting was heard at Chelsea beat Leeds 1-0 in the FA Cup…

@LufcMad42715: Disgusting. its 2026 and we still have people singing about peoples sexuality, just sad to see grown ass men/women behaving like it. Yes we get the saville chants etc but 2 wrongs dont make a right.

@Diddlysquatv3: Saw a bit of trouble when I came out of ground. Very unsavoury. 2 fans arguing.Chelsea fan flipped Leeds fan’s sun hat off. Leeds fan got very angry. But Chelsea fan scarpered. Me, I just thought Lads! I don’t need this shit! I just need to know where pink Fkin parking is!! 🤦🏼‍♂️🤣

@MJwhites1: Bit of a scuffle on Wembley way after, Chelsea fan mouthing off got put on his arse, he was in his fifties should know better 😂

@JohnCoates14: I really don’t get it. Was with my two boys and grandson and all I wanted was a day out hoping our team win. If not, so be it. Saw some stuff with grown men and I just think, ‘grow up ffs’

@Charliebop33: They were all giving it the big un as we were walking back to the Pink carpark, spitting off the top concourse. Not one of em wearing a Chelsea shirt, they were all day tripping cunts.

@El_Loco_Whites: Saw this happen a few times down Wembley Way. Chelsea fans giving it big en till he got his eye cut with a nasty right hand and didn’t want to know after that 🤣

@ejs100802: Don’t go antagonising people and expect no repercussions. I saw something like this happen twice yesterday both times it was a Chelsea fan getting in the Leeds fans face and act shocked when someone actually swings

@joel120702: So many scraps at FT 😂
