Chelsea have just won the UEFA Conference League after defeating Real Betis 4-1 in midweek, and they are not wasting any time preparing for next season. According to reports, the Blues have already reached an agreement to sign Ipswich Town’s star striker Liam Delap.
Chelsea to Snatch Liam Delap After Conference League Glory
The Blues positively ended their season as they won the Conference League and also secured Champions League football. Despite the trouble they experienced at the start, Enzo Maresca’s side was able to achieve their targets.
However, despite their good season, Chelsea are not resting on their laurels as Maresca’s side is already making moves for next season. The Blues remain active in the transfer market as they reportedly have agreed to sign Ipswich Town’s star, Liam Delap.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea moved quickly to seal the 22-year-old striker by triggering his 30 million pound buy out clause. There’s no issue whatsoever with Ipswich or Delap’s camp as all parties have agreed on the deal.
Chelsea Beat Man United to Sign Delap
The Blues are keen to complete the young striker’s deal as soon as possible to avoid any potential competition with other teams, especially Manchester United. Reports also suggest that Chelsea has set a medical date for Delap and his contract signing, along with the announcement, should arrive after he completes his medical.
The 22-year-old attacker’s upcoming move will also bring some financial profit for Manchester City, as they are set to receive 30% of the transfer fee. Coming from City’s academy, Delap is certainly a player who Maresca knows quite well, which is why the tactician approves of the decision to sign the England u21 international this summer.
