Chelsea claimed FA Cup glory at Wembley Stadium, defeating Leeds United 1-0 in a tightly contested final on April 26, 2026. A single goal proved decisive as the Blues secured their place in European football’s elite competitions.

Chelsea arrived at Wembley seeking to add silverware to their season. Leeds came to the capital hoping to pull off an upset and claim their first FA Cup since 1972. Both teams had prepared meticulously for this showdown.

The opening exchanges saw Chelsea dominate possession from kickoff. Leeds set up defensively, content to absorb pressure and hit on the break. Neither team created clear chances in the opening 15 minutes.

Chelsea’s pressure mounted as the first half progressed. They controlled the ball and forced Leeds into deep defensive positions. The away side remained compact and disciplined throughout.

The breakthrough came in the 34th minute when Chelsea found the net. The goal proved enough to separate the teams at the interval. Leeds had kept the Blues at bay for half an hour before the decisive moment.

Halftime brought tactical adjustments from both camps. Leeds needed to find a way forward in the second half. Chelsea aimed to protect their slender advantage.

The second half began with Leeds showing more attacking intent. They pushed forward in search of an equalizer. Chelsea sat deeper, defending their one-goal lead.

Leeds created several chances as the match entered its final stages. Their attacking play improved significantly after the break. However, Chelsea’s defense held firm under sustained pressure.

With 10 minutes remaining, Leeds pressed desperately for an equalizer. Chelsea made substitutions to shore up their midfield. The tension at Wembley intensified as the final whistle approached.

Chelsea recorded 58% possession throughout the match. They had 12 shots compared to Leeds’ 8. The Blues managed 4 shots on target against Leeds’ 3.

The final whistle confirmed Chelsea as FA Cup winners for the season. They will compete in European competition next term. Leeds depart Wembley disappointed but can reflect on a strong campaign.

What’s Next: Chelsea will now turn their focus to securing a top-four finish in the Premier League. Leeds will look to bounce back from this defeat and push for promotion in their domestic league.
