A video shows concerning scenes as police officers and Bradford City fans clash in the concourse during the game against Wigan Athletic.

@Jamesdunn1989 has tweeted a video which has since gone viral, captioning his post: “75th minute we watched the police gather on the concourse, this was the end result.

“City fans didn’t have a chance and they just attacked anyone who tried to exit the stand. #bcafc”

The clip has gone on to get over 500,000 views within the first 24 hours of being uploaded.

The game itself saw goals from Caylan Vickers and Joe Taylor help Wigan go three points clear of the drop zone, while fourth-placed Bradford lose ground on the promotion chasing sides.

Graham Alexander spoke of his disappointment at his side having to play less than 24 hours after a rugby league match at the Brick Community Stadium.

Alexander said, per Yorkshire Post: “You’re playing on a pitch that less than 24 hours ago had a game of rugby on it, which is a joke really for this level. But that’s what it is.

“There’s not a lot you can do with that, is there, unfortunately? It’s out of our control. Common sense would say that the rugby match is after the football match.”

“I think the first goal, being so early in the game, it was a game of nothing really before that. I thought we had a couple of opportunities, to be fair. I wouldn’t say we should have scored, but we could have.

“I think their goal comes from nothing. I think it’s down to us and our compactness as a team. I think we should be much more aggressive and we allowed them to play through and score the goal.

“After that, I think it helped them set up to allow us time on the ball, which we took and slowed our game right down.

“You’re playing on a pitch that less than 24 hours ago had a game of rugby on it, which is a joke really for this level. But that’s what it is.

“I don’t think that had any impact on our decisions when we had the ball, how quickly to play. Once they got the goal anyway, I thought they invited us into a game in front of them. I don’t think we had the quality getting in behind their back line enough.

“But I didn’t at any moment feel they were going to hurt us either. With them being home team, I never felt under pressure, Inever felt that we were in danger of conceding.

“So the goal was disappointing from that aspect and certainly the second half, I think we had the majority of the ball and the majority of the direction of the game.

“So the second goal just takes it just away from us and gives them an extra cushion and it’s a goal we should never concede. To be fair, it’s just a really poor goal.

“He (Jenson Metcalfe) mis-kicked the ball 50 metres from our goal. I think when the ball pops up in the air, I think it’s almost like seven of our players against two of theirs and somehow they get a clean one-v-one. Our challenges in that moment were poor.

“To allow the centre forward to get the other side of our back line, I think is not good enough. But I don’t think we did enough. I thought a draw would have been a fair result to be fair.

“I don’t think either team created enough chances. That’s what I felt really. I thought if it was a 0-0 or 1-1, that would have been a fair result.”

Wigan’s Gary Caldwell said to Latics TV: “I am delighted with the reaction,” he said.

“We weren’t happy with Tuesday with how we performed, and I thought the way we dealt with it as a group and the accountability we showed to do something about it today was brilliant.

“The test came at 3 o’clock, and I thought the players were absolutely brilliant today against a very good team.

“I have seen Bradford a lot – and they’ve done exceptionally well this year. They are a difficult team to beat.

“I said that at half-time that this team won’t go away and keep coming, and we had to stand up to real pressure in the first 25 minutes.

“Joe [Taylor] then scored a brilliant second goal, which really calmed the nerves. It was a huge win for us.

“In life, nothing is easy. You sometimes have little dips and things that go against you, and what determines success in that moment is how you respond.

“I thought the whole Club – the players and staff – accepted responsibility for that performance and didn’t hide behind it.

“The reaction was first class. There will be other dips along the way that we have to recover from, and today was a brilliant reaction and result.

“It is only one game – and we now have to back it up, which is the challenge now.”
