Cristiano Ronaldo bursts into tears after earning first Saudi Pro League title

Cristiano Ronaldo broke down in tears after finally ending his three-year wait for silverware with Al-Nassr after they secured the Saudi Pro League title with a 4-1 win over Damac.

The Portuguese forward scored twice in the win at Alawwal Park in Riyadh as Al-Nassr held off rivals Al-Hilal to clinch the championship.

Ronaldo, 41, helped put the game beyond doubt with goals in the 62nd and 80th minutes, including a rare free-kick from a tight angle.

Former Liverpool forward Sadio Mane opened the scoring before Kingsley Coman doubled Al-Nassr’s lead early in the second half.

Morlaye Sylla briefly pulled one back for Damac, but Ronaldo’s double sealed the title and sparked emotional scenes at full-time.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star was visibly emotional on the bench as the match drew to a close before later celebrating with his team-mates, partner Georgina Rodriguez and his children.

It is the 36th trophy of Ronaldo’s career and his first major title since joining Al-Nassr in 2023 following his departure from Manchester United.

Despite his prolific scoring record in Saudi Arabia, team silverware had previously eluded him during his time in the Middle East.

Ronaldo finished the league season with 28 goals in 30 appearances, although he is set to miss out on the Golden Boot award to former Brentford striker Ivan Toney, who scored 32 league goals for Al-Ahli.

The Portugal captain will now turn his focus towards the World Cup this summer, which could be the final major international tournament of his career.
