ENIC in talks to sign Premier League “wizard” for Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur survived the storm of the 2025/26 campaign, ending fears of relegation from the Premier League on the final day after a narrow win over Everton.

Now, Roberto De Zerbi is building. Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi are set to link up with the Londoners after the World Cup in North America, and ENIC are determined to sign a wealth of new players across central and attacking positions.

It’s important to remember the scale of the rebuild in front of Johan Lange and the rest of the decision-makers. Tottenham need to merge big-money moves and shrewd signings.

And while it might not get fans off their seats at first glance, a prospective deal for an out-of-contract Premier League star could prove one of the sharpest signings of the summer for the Lilywhites.

Spurs in talks to sign Premier League star

Deals for Robertson and Senesi are shrewd, and evidence of a strategy pertaining to bosman transfers this summer. This is likely being conducted with bigger fish in mind.

Tottenham need to sign elite forwards and playmakers this summer – Manchester City’s Savinho is being closed down in a £60m deal – but with multiple deals required, it looks like the board are not quite done with making clever little deals to support De Zerbi’s squad.

According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham are in talks to sign Harry Wilson this summer, with the 29-year-old a free agent when his contract with Fulham expires at the end of the month.

Everton, Leeds United and West Ham are all credited with an interest too, but it is Aston Villa who currently have the lead in the race, fresh contacts with his agents expected this week. Saying that, Wilson will be keeping his options open, so the door is certainly there for Spurs to swoop in and convince Wilson to remain in London.

Wilson is experienced and coming off the back of his most productive season in the Premier League. Given that he is available for free, signing him feels like a no-brainer for a Spurs side who need more depth.

When considering the value-for-money impact that Wilson would bring to north London, he might even establish himself as a better signing than Savinho.

Why Harry Wilson would be better than Savinho

Fulham have parted ways with Marco Silva, who will become the new Benfica boss this summer. Just as significant is the loss of Wilson, who was “the form player in the Premier League” in January,

Wilson is one of the most underrated attackers in England. And, after many years, he appears to have discovered his potency in the danger area, not only a threat but someone who will take a focal role and rack up goals and assists with consistency.

He typically plays off the right, but he can also feature centrally, and De Zerbi would surely be among the most suitable managers in the division to take the Welshman to yet another level.

After all, Wilson is growing into his skin as a talisman. Hailed by Marco Silva for his “incredible” offensive numbers, for those two reasons, he could bring a different flavour than Savinho would to the Lilywhites set-up.

There’s nothing to say that Savinho and Wilson couldn’t both sign for Spurs and make an impact this summer, but it’s clear that the latter man is more accomplishd right now. Over seven years Savinho’s senior, he has been the leading man in a stable outfit, whereas the Brazilian started only seven times in the Premier League this year.

Away from the evidence that Wilson is currently operating at a higher level, it’s also worth remembering that Savinho would cost a significant fee, around £60m. Therefore, he would fall into a similar financial ballpark as the likes of Dominic Solanke and Richarlison, and would need to hit the ground running to avoid frustrating comparisons.

Described as a “wizard” by Fulham writer Jack Kelly, the Wales star is remarkably intelligent in attacking areas. He bides his time and often picks the perfect place to affect his opponents’ defensive structure.

Whether Tottenham manage to pull both deals off remains to be seen, but for all Savinho’s potential, Wilson might pack a stronger punch from the get-go, and Spurs need instant relief after such a disappointing year.
