Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé scored within six second-half minutes as France beat Morocco 2-0 to reach the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup.
It was a repeat of the 2022 semi-final in Qatar, which France also won 2-0, meaning Les Bleus have now eliminated Morocco in consecutive World Cups.
France were the better side throughout but had to wait until the hour mark to break the deadlock after squandering earlier chances.
Mbappé won a penalty in the 28th minute when he was brought down in the box, but his spot-kick was saved by Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou.
The frustration continued when Lucas Digne rattled the crossbar with a strike from outside the area in the first half.
The breakthrough finally arrived in the 60th minute, when Désiré Doué picked out Mbappé and the forward curled a shot around defenders into the top corner.
France doubled their lead six minutes later as Mbappé turned provider, setting up Dembélé to curl a right-footed effort that Bounou touched but could not keep out.
Mbappé nearly added a third but skied a Michael Olise pass, with the effort ruled offside in any case.
The goal moved Mbappé level with Lionel Messi’s record of eight goals in a single World Cup tournament, and took his overall tally to 20 goals in 20 men’s World Cup matches.
Morocco struggled to fashion a meaningful attacking threat and badly missed forward Ismael Saibari, who was ruled out of the quarter-final with a hamstring injury.
Bounou’s saves kept the scoreline respectable, but his side rarely troubled France once they fell behind.
France advance to the semi-finals, where they will face the winner of the quarter-final between Spain and Belgium.
Morocco, who had carried the hopes of a continent, exit at the last-eight stage for the second consecutive World Cup.
