Frank admits ‘it’s ok’ for fans to be frustrated after Fulham defeat sparks boos around Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank admitted “it’s ok” for fans to be frustrated after his side fell to a 2-1 defeat to Fulham in the Premier League, sparking loud boos at the final whistle.

Frank’s men were hoping to build on a spirited performance in the 5-3 defeat to European champions PSG in Paris in midweek, but they were undone at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday after a calamitous first six minutes saw them go 2-0 down.

Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario was at fault for the second goal, scored by Harry Wilson after Kenny Tete’s opener, when the Spurs stopper needlessly raced out of his goal to prevent a long ball reaching Fulham striker Raul Jimenez.

The moment prompted raucous jeers from the home supporters towards their own player – an incident Frank hope is not repeated.

“I think it’s ok that they [the fans] are frustrated because we haven’t won at home for so long,” Frank told Sky Sports.

“So that’s fair after the game. We all badly want to win.

“But during the game, that’s not a worry, I just hope it’s one incident that never happens again.”

Despite a much-improved performance in the second-half, rewarded with a Mohammed Kudus goal, the result was Spurs’ sixth-straight home league game without a win; a dismal run that Frank urged his team to “do everything” to rectify.

“We have a tough spell now,” Frank said. “It’s about being as calm as possible and do everything we can to work through it.”

Spurs are next in action when they travel to St James’ Park on Tuesday to face Newcastle, who picked up their first away league victory over the season with a convincing 4-1 win over Everton.
