Guardiola: ‘Rodri Won’t be at His Best for Man City until September’ | Football news at 1000Goals.com: Football Betting, Highlights, and More

Manchester City’s manager, Pep Guardiola, revealed that his star midfielder, Rodri, won’t be at his best, at least until mid-September, as he is still recovering from his injury.  However, Guardiola is still hoping that the Spanish international can play some minutes in some of City’s early fixtures.

Rodri Still Not Fully Fit to Start Man City Season

The Spaniard barely got any minutes last season because of a long injury, but there was optimism that he would finally be fully back this upcoming season. However, that positive vibe needs a slight correction at least for the first few matches of Man City’s new season.

Rodri suffered a slight setback in his physical condition after picking up an injury during City’s FIFA Club World Cup clash against Al Hilal. City’s boss, Guardiola, reveals that the Spanish star midfielder’s condition is improving.

However, the ex-Atletico Madrid man will need until mid-September before he can get back to 100 per cent again. Nevertheless, Guardiola does hope that Rodri can still get some minutes in some of City’s upcoming matches before the International break.

“Rodri is getting better but he had a big injury in the last game against Al Hilal. He has trained better in the last few days, hopefully after the international break is when he will be really fit,” Guardiola said in an interview (via Simon Bajkowski).

“Hopefully in these games he can play some minutes but what is important is he doesn’t have pain because we don’t want this Rodri coming back injured,” the coach added.

Man City will play three Premier League games in August against Wolves, Tottenham Hotspur, and Brighton before heading into the international break.
