Marc Skinner is expected to provide an update on United’s recent absentees when he conducts his pre-match press conference at Carrington on Wednesday afternoon.
Malard – our Player of the Match in the first leg after getting a goal and two assists – missed Sunday’s win over London City Lionesses as a precaution due to illness.
Anna Sandberg was also not involved in our last outing, after suffering a calf injury in the first leg, while Skinner has been hopeful that Fridolina Rolfo will be back from the knock that prevented her from playing in Madrid and again at the weekend.
We may also find out more on Jayde Riviere, who came off the pitch shortly after sustaining what appeared to be a painful-looking injury in the London City clash. Leah Galton and Ella Toone are dealing with longer-term issues and will be continuing with their recoveries as the Reds prepare for Thursday’s game.
The visitors, meanwhile, will be without defender Silvia Lloris, who ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee during the first leg. Winger Gio Garbelini sustained a serious injury during October’s league-phase meeting between the sides, but made her comeback in last week’s clash and could feature again.
