Xabi Alonso started his La Liga adventure with Los Blancos with a positive result following a slender 1-0 victory over Osasuna. Their star striker, Kylian Mbappe, netted Madrid’s only goal in that game with a spot kick on 51 minutes.
It was not an easy match for Los Blancos, although they did dominate proceedings, but Alonso’s side still struggles to score more goals. Nonetheless, getting all three points is important for Madrid to give that positive feeling at the start of their season.
Rodrygo’s Future Remains in Question After Osasuna Clash
Aside from the important home win in their La Liga opening fixture, there’s also another intriguing situation that attracts many football enthusiasts from Madrid. That is the future of their attacker, Rodrygo, who didn’t get any minutes in that game.
Despite Madrid struggling to get more goals, the Brazilian was not being given an opportunity at all by Alonso. The former Bayern Leverkusen boss gave a new signing, Franco Mastantuono, some minutes instead of the more experienced Rodrygo.
However, Alonso denied that he is looking to sell the winger/attacker this summer, claiming that the Brazilian is still part of Madrid’s plan this season. Still, the lack of game time that Rodrygo’s been getting so far under the Spanish tactician will keep people questioning the player’s future.
