Manchester United got themselves back into winning ways after beating Chelsea 2-1 in a thrilling game at Old Trafford. Both teams had to finish the game with 10 men after Robert Sanchez got sent off for the Blues, while Casemiro saw red for the Red Devils.

Man United Shock Chelsea With a 2-1 Win

Following a disappointing derby defeat against Manchester City last weekend, Man U managed to get back into winning immediately. Ruben Amorim’s men were under lots of pressure ahead of the weekend match but managed to deliver the goods.

Playing at home, United were determined to erase their disappointing loss against Man City, and things seemed to be going in their favor early on. Chelsea had to play with 10 men after just five minutes of play following Robert Sanchez’s sending off.

That early red card gave United all the initiative, and they didn’t waste it as Bruno Fernandes put his side ahead after 14 minutes. The Red Devils look to be in full control as they netted their second goal on 37 minutes, this time through Casemiro.

However, the game looks to be shifting again before the half-time break as Casemiro got his marching orders after picking up a second yellow card. Chelsea started to take control of the second period, but were struggling to create chances.

It wasn’t until the 80th minute that the Blues pulled one back through Trevoh Chalobah’s header inside the penalty area. Unfortunately for Chelsea, they didn’t have enough in the tank as Man United held on to their 2-1 lead until the final whistle was blown.

It’s an important result for Amorim’s men and for the manager, as it gives him a breathing space from constant pressure. Meanwhile, Enzo Maresca’s side are feeling a bit of that pressure now as that defeat means they failed to win their last three matches in all competitions.
