Manchester United continue their resurgence under Michael Carrick’s guidance, having beaten Manchester City last week and now shocking Arsenal. A late goal from Matheus Cunha secured a surprising three points at Emirates Stadium against the current Premier League leader.

Carrick’s Man United Beat Arsenal at Emirates

Following their massive derby win, Man United were in a confident mood as they travel to the Gunners’ home ground on Sunday. However, it was the league leader that got the first blow as an own goal from Lisandro Martinez put Mikel Arteta’s men 1-0 up in 29 minutes.

Going one goal down didn’t break down United’s spirit, though, as they got back into the game thanks to Bryan Mbuemo’s equalizing goal in the 37th minute. After the break, it was Carrick’s men that turn the tie around with a goal from Patrick Dorgu in 50 minutes.

Arsenal working hard to get back into the game and did get themselves that equalizing goal through Mikel Merino’s effort six minutes from time. However, three minutes later, it was Man United that came away with all three points as Cunha struck the final blow with his winning goal.

It was an important result not just for United to build on their confidence, but also for the Premier League title race, as it opens things up again. Arsenal’s defeat means that Man City are now only four points behind in second place.
