National League Statement: Abandoned Matches ℹ️

— Enterprise National League (@NL_Enterprise) September 9, 2025

LEAGUE STATEMENT:

The National League can confirm following investigation, a decision has been reached following the abandonment of Eastleigh v Scunthorpe United and Scunthorpe United v Wealdstone in the last week.

Both matters were considered thoroughly and in reaching their decision the League have considered previous precedent for similar abandonments within the National League and the need to ensure a consistent approach with any similar incidents going forward.

In respect of the abandonment of Eastleigh v Scunthorpe United on Tuesday 2 September, it has been decided that the game is to be replayed in accordance with League Rule 8.37.

In respect of the abandonment of Scunthorpe United v Wealdstone on Saturday 6 September, it has been decided that the game is not to be replayed, and the match has been awarded to Scunthorpe United pursuant to League Rule 8.38.

Tables will be updated accordingly. Regulations state that while the home club are awarded three points, goals for and against are not to be added.

SCUNTHORPE STATEMENT:

Scunthorpe United can confirm the outcomes of our two abandoned matches last week following notice from the Enterprise National League.

United’s away league encounter at Eastleigh, which was abandoned due to serious head injuries between the Iron’s Jean Belehouan and the Spitfires’ Archie Harris, has been ordered to be replayed in full on a date and time yet to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, Scunthorpe United’s home league encounter at the Attis Arena at the weekend has been awarded to the Iron as a victory following the game’s abandonment due to the shoulder injury of Stones’ forward Daniel Nkrumah.

WEALDSTONE STATEMENT:

Following Saturday’s abandoned match against Scunthorpe United, the National League has confirmed the outcome of its investigation.

In line with League Rule 8.38, the fixture will not be replayed and the match has been awarded to Scunthorpe United. As per regulations, while Scunthorpe receive three points, no goals for or against will be added to either side’s record.

The Wealdstone FC Board of Directors were in direct contact with the National League in the aftermath of Saturday’s events. We made clear our view that the correct outcome was for Scunthorpe United to be awarded the three points.

This position was taken to demonstrate the values of sporting integrity and fair play that underpin our football club. While disappointed that the match was unable to be completed, we believe it is important to uphold the principles of the game and support an outcome that reflects the spirit of competition.

The League table will be updated in due course to reflect this change. Wealdstone FC will now turn our focus to preparing for the next fixture v Gateshead at The Vale on Saturday with full commitment to our supporters and players as we continue the season.

We thank our fans for their continued backing and understanding.

EASTLEIGH STATEMENT:

The National League have advised that our abandoned fixture against Scunthorpe United at the start of September will be replayed in full at the Silverlake Stadium.

Our National League fixture against Scunthorpe United at the start of September was abandoned by the referee after a clash between Archie Harris and Jean Belehouan in the 94th minute.

Following a meeting between The National League, they have advised that we will be required to replay our fixture against Scunthorpe United in full.

Fixture details will be announced in due course.

Update given on players involved in sickening collision with National League match abandoned

This is how fans reacted as the National League make a decision over the two abandoned games following an investigation and league rules…

@dan_batemannn: The right decision.

@callumjames95: @WealdstoneFC Why turn comments off fellas? we all know what a group of cheating c*nts you’re hopefully a large fine and points deduction your way

@TheScunnyLad: Absolutely no need to take this long. Absolutely the right call on both accounts (either call Eastleigh was fine for me). Hopefully fines are on their way for bringing the game into disrepute

@Ben_Benneyworth: Honestly, the right decision on both

@harryparker____: Common sense prevails and sporting integrity is upheld. This was the only acceptable decision. But once again, FUCK those players who tried to pull a fast one using mental health as an excuse.. Finally, UP THE FUCKING IRON.

@Lloyd_hrnr4: Comments restricted class, cheers for the 3 points lads

@YorkyIron: No mention of a punishment for Wealdstone. But there isn’t a comment saying “No further comment” or “the matter is closed”. So I wouldn’t be surprised if there will be some repercussions announced following a full investigation.

@DarranPearce: Must admit I didn’t think they would but Wealdstone have got what they deserved with Scunthorpe being awarded the game

@DJTimWood: The fact that @WealdstoneFC are stopping comments on their posts 📫 speaks volumes. If their board thought the points should be awarded to Scunny then why did they not make a statement regarding this. It would have definitely reduced the abuse they received! Absolute shitshow!

@bonniebeth490: Correct decisions on both counts

@dylanwhxtbread: Should never have took this long for a decision to be made, especially on the Eastleigh match, however, the correct decision made on both. Let’s make the most of the replay and now Andy can properly plan ahead with Saturday’s match. UTI👏

@crogger123: Scunthorpe United should not be sold short here, they did nothing wrong and are having plus one chalked off the goal difference. @NL_Enterprise professional clubs stuck in an amateur League.

@harryfinnigan: Correct decisions, but imagine if we miss out on promotion/play offs by 1 goal 🫣🤣

@motiv8222: Hope that +1 goal doesn’t cost us , plus do the scorers not get credited with the goals 😳😳😳🤷

Common sense prevails. Eastleigh v Scunthorpe will be replayed, which makes sense as it was 1-1 when the game was abandoned after two head injuries. But Scunthorpe get a walkover win v Wealdstone, as they were 2-1 up when Wealdstone refused to restart after their player was hurt. https://t.co/XA2wDGMSEl

They’ve turned their comments off

Absolute joke of a club 🤡Could not have handled it any worse

You want some?

Yes we’ll have the 3 points https://t.co/oTBU7qWl8u pic.twitter.com/YoTQdvwlMD
