Bazoumana Toure has realised his dream of being able to play in the Premier League after completing his reported £42m switch to Newcastle United on Sunday.

Toure, who has put pen to paper on a long-term contract with Newcastle, arrives after helping Ivory Coast reach the last 32 of the World Cup during the summer.

He arrives from Hoffenheim after spending just one full season with the Bundesliga side, where he made 45 appearances across all competitions.

The 20-year-old managed 17 goal contributions (five goals, 12 assists), while his 64 completed dribbles were more than any other Hoffenheim player since his debut.

Only Andrej Kramaric (65) created more chances than Toure’s 59 for the club in that time, and he is relishing the chance to compete at the highest level in England.

“I’m very, very happy to be here. It was my dream since I was young to play in the Premier League for a big team like Newcastle,” Toure told the club’s website.

“Newcastle is like a family, which will help me show my best on the pitch. I will give my best every single day for this shirt.

“I’m very excited to join Newcastle and I can’t wait to meet my team-mates, the supporters and everybody at the club.”

Toure is Eddie Howe’s first outfield signing this summer, and second overall after the Magpies completed a deal for goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen last month.

It is expected to be a busy summer at St. James’ Park, with Anthony Gordon departing for Barcelona while Sandro Tonali is closing in on a £100m switch to Tottenham.

Toure’s arrival comes after Newcastle missed out on Victor Munoz, who decided to join Liverpool, while Bruno Guimaraes has been linked with a move away from Tyneside.

“We’re really pleased to have been able to bring Bazoumana to Newcastle United,” Newcastle boss Howe said.

“He has shown his ability to perform in a top European league during his time in Germany and has gained really good experience with his national team, especially at this summer’s World Cup.

“We feel that he’s a player with a really high ceiling – he’s somebody who we believe can offer us something different. He also has a lot of potential to unlock, and we’re really looking forward to working with him.”

Toure made three appearances at the World Cup for Ivory Coast, one of which was a start, before they crashed out against Norway in the last 32 of the competition.
