Newcastle star could annoy Magpies fans with 12-word Isak claim after Burn

A Newcastle United player has dropped a 12-word response regarding Alexander Isak’s summer departure from St James’ Park – one that may not be loved by Magpies fans.

Burn shows support for Newcastle villain Isak

Isak’s departure dominated the summer transfer window for Newcastle, with the Swede constantly pushing to join Liverpool, eventually getting his wish and moving to Anfield for a British transfer record.

The 25-year-old has soured his relationship with many Magpies supporters, having refused to play at the beginning of the new Premier League season, but during the current international break, Dan Burn offered his support to his former teammate.

“I’m glad it’s done. We wanted the transfer window to close just to have clarity. I’ve been in football long enough to understand that for a player the career is short and they have things they want to achieve. I’m happy it’s over. Alex is a mate and it’s a tough situation as you want him around to help the team. But [I] also understand for him what he needs to do personally.

“I’ve got nothing but good wishes for Alex. There’s no animosity. As a Newcastle fan myself, you know what Newcastle fans are like; we’re protective of our club and city and you want players who want to be there for Newcastle and don’t want to naively think there is anywhere else to go apart from playing for Newcastle. I understand why our fans were frustrated.”

Now, Emil Krafth has also discussed Isak’s ugly exit from Newcastle [via Sport Witness], providing a 12-word response that shows his support for the former Magpies striker:

“You understand Alex, that he might want to take the next step.”

In fairness, it is easy to see both sides of the argument regarding Newcastle players not thinking too badly of Isak, at a time when many fans feel he has shown a huge amount of disrespect for the club.

Burn and Krafth were his colleagues who worked with him every day and clearly had a strong relationship with, though, so it is only natural that they would wish him well, even though the manner of his exit was disappointing.

That said, Newcastle supporters are more than within their right to vent their anger, considering they feel their best player has let down Eddie Howe, the other players and the entire club by essentially going on strike.

Ultimately, football clubs move on, even when they lose world-class players, and while Isak’s quality will be a big loss for the Magpies, they have new attacking heroes like Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa who will hopefully help inspire them to future success.
