One comeback, three clean sheets across four matches Saturday

San Diego Wave are surging forward, maintaining their top ranking after a thrilling comeback Saturday against Denver Summit. Also on Saturday, Gotham FC, Chicago Stars and North Carolina Courage all recorded clean sheets.

San Diego comes back from two-goal deficit, overcomes Denver 3-2

Up 2-0 going into the first half thanks to Melissa Kössler and Natasha Flint, it seemed as though the Summit would manage to take down the league’s top-ranked team.

But the Wave struck back in a span of 16 minutes in the second half. Lia Godfrey opened San Diego’s scoring in the 49th minute off a give-and-go from Kimmi Ascanio. It was Godfrey’s fourth goal of the season and set a club record for most goals scored by a rookie.

Just eight minutes later, Kennedy Wesley’s header notched the equalizer off Godfrey’s first-ever professional assist.

Dudinha brought it home for San Diego in the 65th minute, whose cross bounced off Denver’s Carson Pickett for an own goal.

Gotham secures first home win, trounces Bay FC 3-0

After a shaky start to 2026, Gotham recorded a clean sheet over Bay FC to obtain its first home win of the regular season.

Guro Reiten made her debut for Gotham, starting in place of Lilly Reale, who sustained a foot injury during the SheBelieves Cup in March.

Gotham earned its first goal thanks to an own goal from Bay FC in the 20th minute. Then, in the 40th minute, Rose Lavelle recorded her first goal of the season off a pass from Jordynn Dudley.

Lavelle drew a foul in the final moments of first-half stoppage time, allowing Esther González to convert the penalty for the game-winner.

Meanwhile, Bay FC continues searching for consistency. Gotham outshot Bay 25-3 on Saturday.

Chicago finds reasons to cheer in 2-0 win over Boston

Both Chicago and Boston were in need of a win Saturday. The Stars came out on top, breaking a three-game losing streak with its 2-0 clean sheet against the Legacy, who have now lost all five games of the season so far.

Jordyn Huitema opened the scoring for the Stars early, notching a goal in the 10th minute after a corner.

Nádia Gomes then recorded her first goal of the season in the 51st minute to give the Stars a comfortable lead they held onto, in large part thanks to Katie Atkinson’s eight saves — tying her career high.

Sanchez shines as Courage defeat Dash 1-0

Ashley Sanchez notched her fourth goal of the season off an assist from Manaka Matsukubo to deliver the Courage a 1-0 win over the Dash.

And the red card made yet another appearance in the 77th minute as Ally Schlegel was ejected for a Ally high-cleat challenge on the Dash’s Danielle Colaprico. But despite being down a player, the Courage held on for the game’s final moments.
