Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has dismissed suggestions that Cole Palmer is unsettled in west London, insisting the forward is enjoying his time with the club.
Stories had emerged claiming the 23-year-old, who was raised in Manchester, has struggled being away from the north of England, with talk also linking him to Manchester United.
Palmer, who supported United as a child before progressing through Manchester City’s youth system, moved to Chelsea in 2023 in a deal worth £42.5m.
Coach backs long-term commitment
Any doubts about Palmer’s future were seemingly addressed last August, when he agreed to a two-year extension that could see him remain at Stamford Bridge until 2033.
Rosenior explained he has spoken regularly with the England international and believes there is no issue regarding his happiness or commitment to the project.
The head coach stressed that Palmer remains central to the club’s vision, noting that injury setbacks can affect confidence but do not reflect a decline in ability.
Injuries, frustration and squad updates
Palmer has endured a difficult campaign physically, particularly while dealing with a recurring groin problem that has limited his rhythm.
Attention increased after last weekend’s league victory over Brentford, when he showed little emotion after converting a penalty and headed straight to the dressing room at full-time.
Rosenior said that reaction was driven by personal disappointment rather than dissatisfaction with the club, adding that Palmer will be monitored in training ahead of Sunday’s match at Crystal Palace. The coach also confirmed deputy goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen is sidelined but could return for Wednesday’s European fixture in Naples, while midfielder Dario Essugo faces more than a month out following a training ground accident.
