Jurgen Klopp is not in danger of losing his job with Red Bull, according to the company’s CEO of corporate projects and investments Oliver Mintzlaff.
A report in the Salzburger Nachrichten newspaper today claimed Red Bull were unimpressed by a “lack of sporting progress” from their portfolio of clubs and would be happy for the German to move on.
Klopp has been heavily linked with Real Madrid and the Germany national team since leaving Liverpool in the summer of 2024.
He started at Red Bull as their global head of soccer the following January.
Mintzlaff told The Athletic: “That’s complete nonsense and totally unfounded. On the contrary: We are extremely satisfied with Jurgen Klopp’s work.
“He invests a great deal, is in constant communication with our coaches and sporting directors, and is sustainably developing our Red Bull football philosophy. We are convinced that he is the right man for the job. That’s where we are focusing all our energy and attention.”
Klopp a contender for Real Madrid
Red Bull’s clubs are headed by RB Leipzig, who are fifth in the Bundesliga.
Klopp is reported to have his admirers at Madrid with uncertainty still surrounding the long-term future of Alvaro Arbeloa.
Arbeloa succeeded Xabi Alonso at the Santiago Bernabeu last month but the club did not announce whether he was a permanent appointment or a short-term solution.
The Salzburger Nachrichten also suggested that if Klopp should leave to pursue an opportunity elsewhere, Oliver Glasner would be their primary target to take over.
Glasner has already announced will be leaving Crystal Palace when his contract expires in the summer.
