Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders has just officially signed for Manchester City from AC Milan with a fixed fee worth 57 million euros, not including bonuses. The Dutch midfielder is leaving the Rossoneri despite extending his contract a few months ago, as he is keen on playing under Pep Guardiola.

Reijnders Officially Signed with Man City

Following the latest reports, the former AZ Alkmaar man has officially signed his contract as the Citizens’ new addition. Reijnders reportedly signed a five-year deal worth 8 million euros per season, doubling his latest salary at Milan.

After completing his medical on Sunday, the Dutch international has now signed his contract and will be able to play with City in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup tournament. The player revealed that he is very eager to immediately seal his move with the Citizen so that he can play in that new competition.

“I couldn’t wait any longer. The intention is to participate in the Club World Cup with City,” Reijnders said to the media ahead of his medical test.

“I’m thrilled about it. This way I get to know my teammates straight away.”

Milan to Earn Up to More than 70m from Reijnders Sale

Meanwhile, although the Rossoneri were initially reluctant to sell their star midfielder, the player’s wish and their failure to qualify for Europe put them in a tough spot. Having the opportunity to play in the Premier League with Guardiola as manager is an attractive option for Reijnders.

Financially, Milan will also get some benefit as they earn around 57 million euros of fixed fee with potential add-ons that could reach more than 70 million euros. Although fans might be expecting a bigger fixed fee for Reijnder, this type of deal might be better for the Rossoneri in the long run.

Having a 10% release clause agreement for Reijnders’ deal with AZ Alkmaar means the Dutch club will get that percentage from Milan once they sell the Dutchman. However, the percentage only works for the fixed fee and not for potential bonuses, which means Massimilano Allegri’s side will only pay 10% of 57 million instead of a potential 70 million.
