Southampton have confirmed Will Still as the club’s new manager on a three-year deal.

The 32-year-old had been heavily linked with a move to St Mary’s since announcing his departure from Ligue 1 side Lens last weekend to return to the UK.

Still replaces Ivan Juric, who left the Saints last month after their relegation from the Premier League was confirmed.

“There is huge potential here and we have a great opportunity to do something special,” he said.

“The project that has been laid out to me is very impressive and, all together, I believe we can build a clear identity, and a very positive future for the team.

“I’m eager to get to work this summer and start building a close-knit group that can make everyone proud and, ultimately, get us back to where we belong; in the Premier League.”

After replacing Franck Haise last June, Still guided Lens to an eighth-place finish in Ligue 1, winning 15 of his 34 league games in charge (44.12%).

Daniel Leclercq (48.68%), Haise (47.97%), Francois Brisson (46.15%) are the only coaches in the club’s history to register a higher win percentage in Ligue 1 during the three-points-per-win era.

Still will be at St Mary’s on Sunday for Southampton’s final Premier League game of the season against Arsenal.
