Tottenham, Newcastle United keen on West Ham star Jarrod Bowen

Tottenham Hotspur could battle it out with Newcastle United for the signing of West Ham United forward Jarrod Bowen.

The England international, 28, has performed relatively well in a disjointed West Ham side, scoring nine goals and registering five assists in 29 Premier League outings. He has been the club’s main man in attack for several seasons, but the forward may decide to finally quit the Hammers and look for pastures new in the summer.

In that case, Tottenham and Newcastle United would look to persuade Jarrod Bowen of their respective projects. Both clubs have had contrasting seasons and need reinforcements in the squad for different purposes.

As per West Ham Insider Claret and Hugh, Bowen is ‘fancied’ by both Tottenham and Newcastle. West Ham’s struggles on the pitch have put their Premier League rivals monitoring the situation of the 28-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window.

“They would be interested, but so are a lot of clubs. Bowen seems dedicated to West Ham, but if he sees Paqueta and Kudus leave without anyone decent coming in, maybe he’d be tempted? West Ham might struggle again next season—and a lot of players could want out.

“I think Spurs are interested and will make changes in the summer.”

Jarrod Bowen being eyed by Spurs and Newcastle

Tottenham have endured a tough season and continue to struggle in the bottom half of the table. Defensive reinforcements are an absolute must, given the campaign they have witnessed. In addition, a forward to help share club-record signing Dominic Solanke’s goalscoring burden would be welcome.

Bowen, in that regard, would be a great fit at N17. Capable of playing on the right, through the middle as a No.9 and No.10, he should ideally be able to make an instant impact at Tottenham as the Englishman has been a seasoned Premier League campaigner for several years. The 28-year-old would be an upgrade on the inconsistent Brennan Johnson whilst bringing a different variety to Spurs’ attack.

Newcastle, meanwhile, may see Bowen as a potential option to replace Alexander Isak. The Magpies’ top scorer this season, Isak is being eyed by several top clubs including Liverpool and Arsenal. If they fail to clinch Champions League qualification for next term, the Swede may push for an exit.

Should that happen, Bowen would be a smart option for the Toon Army. The ex-Hull City man is a quality player, more than capable of replacing Isak as Newcastle’s main man in attack next season. His pace, dynamism, silky footwork and link up play can make Eddie Howe’s side a devastating outfit going forward.

That said, it will be interesting to see who wins the race for Bowen’s signature this summer, or he ends up staying at West Ham for another season.
