On Wednesday, Nov. 19, the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team dropped its final roster of 2025. The 26 names on the roster will comprise a team that will take on Italy’s national team in friendly matches in Florida in November. Currently, the U.S. is ranked No. 2 in the FIFA Women’s World Rankings, while Italy is ranked No. 12 and has steadily climbed the ranks over the past few years.

The roster:

Goalkeepers: Claudia Dickey (Seattle Reign FC; 4), Mandy McGlynn (Utah Royals; 4), Jordan Silkowitz (Bay FC; 0)

Defenders: Jordyn Bugg (Seattle Reign FC; 4/0), Emily Fox (Arsenal FC, ENG; 69/1), Naomi Girma (Chelsea FC, ENG: 48/2), Avery Patterson (Houston Dash; 8/1), Lilly Reale (Gotham FC; 4/0), Izzy Rodriguez (Kansas City Current; 1/1), Emily Sams (Orlando Pride; 6/0), Emily Sonnett (Gotham FC; 112/2), Kennedy Wesley (San Diego Wave; 1/0), Kate Wiesner (Washington Spirit; 0/0)

Midfielders: Croix Bethune (Washington Spirit; 4/0), Sam Coffey (Portland Thorns FC; 41/5), Lindsey Heaps (OL Lyonnes, FRA; 167/38), Jaelin Howell (Gotham FC; 5/1), Claire Hutton (Kansas City Current; 9/1), Rose Lavelle (Gotham FC; 115/26), Lily Yohannes (OL Lyonnes, FRA; 11/1)

Forwards: Jameese Joseph (Chicago Stars; 0/0), Catarina Macario (Chelsea FC, ENG; 27/13), Olivia Moultrie (Portland Thorns FC; 10/4), Emma Sears (Racing Louisville; 11/4), Jaedyn Shaw (Gotham FC; 29/8), Alyssa Thompson (Chelsea FC, ENG; 24/3)

Notable additions:

As anyone who has followed the women’s national team over the past year knows, head coach Emma Hayes has cycled through a deep and wide pool of eligible players, giving dozens of athletes, new and old, a chance to prove their stuff on the international stage. But as 2025 comes to an end and the both the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2028 Olympic Games grow closer, Hayes’s wide pool is starting to slim down. As the fat gets trimmed, a few additions to the roster felt particularly notable:

Naomi Girma, who returns to the USWNT roster after a stretch of injuries. Girma has played in just four of the USWNT’s 13 matches in 2025.

Jaelin Howell, who makes her return to the national team for the first time since 2022. The former #1 overall NWSL draft pick struggled to find her footing the past few years, but her recent dominant performances with NJ/NY Gotham FC give her a chance to prove herself again on the international stage.

Jameese Joseph, who receives her first call-up to the national team after coming in second in goal-scoring for the Chicago Stars this season.

Notable absences:

Trinity Rodman, who cannot stop making headlines right now for plenty of reasons. She’ll play in the NWSL Championship on Saturday, and will almost certainly be thrust into contract negotiation conversations immediately afterwards. She also has a persistent back injury to rehab. Plus, when she’s in top form (and even when she’s not), she has a near-guaranteed spot on this roster. Seems alright for Rodman to sit this one out.

Phallon Tullis-Joyce, who will miss this international stretch due to a facial injury she suffered in a recent game with Manchester United. This absence gave way for another young player to potentially earn her first cap — Jordan Silkowitz, goalie for Bay FC.

Other quick facts:

The roster contains two players receiving their first call-ups (Joseph and Silkowitz) as well as a third uncapped player (Kate Weisner);

The average age of this roster is 24.8, up slightly from Hayes’ rosters over the summer and earlier in the fall;

Seven players will report to camp after fighting it out in the NWSL Championship on Saturday. Five will represent NJ/NY Gotham FC (Lilly Reale, Emily Sonnett, Jaedyn Shaw, Jaelin Howell and Rose Lavelle) and two will represent the Washington Spirit (Kate Wiesner and Croix Bethune);

Only three players on the roster are above the age of 30: Lindsey Heaps, Rose Lavelle, and Emily Sonnett.
