Victor Osimhen has insisted he does not know what the future holds for him this summer, with Manchester United heavily linked with a move for the long-term Chelsea target.
Chelsea chased Osimhen last summer but walked away from a deal late in the transfer window, the closure of which saw the striker ultimately join Turkish side Galatasaray on a season-long loan deal which does not include the option for a permanent move.
With no future at Napoli and a contract there which ends in 2026, Osimhen is a prime candidate for a summer transfer and it was recently reported that both United and Paris Saint-Germain were chasing a deal.
After Galatasaray’s 0-0 draw with Fenerbahce, Osimhen was asked whether he had played his final derby for the club or if he will be returning next year on a permanent deal.
“I don’t know, to be honest,” he told Hasan Tankaya. “A few months ago, nobody ever thought I would come to Galatasaray, despite how big of a club they are.
“I live in the moment. For what’s going to happen in the summer, I don’t know, but I want everyone to understand something. I really love this club so much. I love the fans, I love everyone associated with this club, from the president down to the coaching staff.”
Galatasaray are expected to be priced out of the race for Osimhen’s signature in the summer. The striker earns a significant wage with Napoli, where his release clause is expected to drop from over £100m to below £70m.
“Victor is always going to be a hotly-debated topic and not just on the transfer market,” Napoli director Giovanni Manna told Sky Sport Italia recently.
“He is an appetising player for clubs, he has a clause and everyone knows this, we are working to find a solution as quickly as possible, so that we can avoid what happened last year.”
