Ronaldo Leads Portugal to Beat Uzbekistan
Portugal bounced back from their opening draw by thrashing Uzbekistan 5-0. Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice, while Nuno Mendes, Rafael Leão, and an own goal from Abduvohid Nematov completed the scoring. The victory moved Roberto Martinez’s side onto four points and into second place.
The defeat effectively ended Uzbekistan’s World Cup hopes. After losing their first two matches, they can no longer challenge for the top two positions and are unlikely to reach the knockout stage through the best third-place route.

Colombia Secured Ticket to Knockout Stage
Meanwhile, Colombia secured qualification after defeating DR Congo 1-0. The only goal of the game was scored by Luis Díaz, giving Los Cafeteros a second consecutive victory and a perfect six points from two matches.

DR Congo remain alive in the qualification race despite their defeat. A victory over Uzbekistan in the final group game could still give them a chance to progress, depending on results elsewhere.
