Formula 1 has announced a weekend attendance figure of 389,000 at the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix – the highest in Spa-Francorchamps’ history on the calendar.
389,000 fans attended Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps over the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix weekend. The figure is a new record in Belgium’s history on the F1 calendar, marking a 9,000 increase on last year’s number.
As has become expected thanks to Spa’s micro-climate, the Belgian Grand Prix weekend was once again affected by rain, with the start of Sunday’s Grand Prix delayed by over an hour due to the weather conditions.
In the race, Oscar Piastri led home a third successive 1-2 result for McLaren – the team’s longest such run since before both of their current drivers were born. For the second time, after 2023, the Belgian Grand Prix utilised F1’s Sprint format, in which Max Verstappen secured victory.
Impressively, Belgian Grand Prix attendance figures have more than doubled in the last ten years, with the 2015 Belgian Grand Prix weekend having attracted 165,000 fans over three days. Paired with an increased grandstand capacity, much of the attendance growth has been thanks to Belgian-born Max Verstappen, whose fans have flocked to the circuit which was a de-facto home race for the Red Bull driver before the Dutch Grand Prix returned to the calendar in 2021.
2025 F1 Attendance Reaches 3.7 Million
The 2025 Belgian Grand Prix ranks as the third best-attended race of the season to date, behind the British Grand Prix – which had a 4-day attendance of 500,000, the largest in Formula 1 in almost 30 years – and the Australian Grand Prix, for which total attendance was over 465,000. Last year, the Belgian Grand Prix ranked as the fourth best-attended race of the season, behind the British, Australian and Mexico City races.
After 13 races in 2025, total fan attendance at Formula 1 weekends this year now stands at over 3.7 million, not counting the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix which is the only race so far this season yet to reveal its attendance data. Total attendance across the 24 races last year stood at 6.5 million – a number which is likely to be exceeded in 2025.
2026 Belgian Grand Prix Tickets On Sale Soon
Following years of uncertainty around its future on the Formula 1 calendar, the longer-term future of the Belgian Grand Prix was confirmed earlier this year. Spa-Francorchamps is confirmed to remain on the schedule until at least 2031 – though it will appear every other year from 2027 onwards as part of a new rotational deal.
