370,000 fans attended a record-breaking Formula 1 weekend at the 2025 Italian Grand Prix, where Monza hosted the sport for the 75th time.
Max Verstappen dominated a record-breaking 2025 Italian Grand Prix. After taking pole position with the fastest ever lap in F1 history on Saturday, Sunday saw Verstappen claim his third win of the season in the fastest-ever Grand Prix. Verstappen finished well ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, with Piastri continuing to lead the championship race with eight rounds remaining.
The 2025 Italian Grand Prix brought in a record-breaking attendance figure for Monza, with F1 reporting that 370,000 fans passed through the circuit gates over the race weekend. The figure is a growth of 35,000 on last year’s number – and an increase of 65,000 on the year before.
While F1 reported a weekend figure of 370,000, local Italian media reported a more precise figure of 369,041, which perhaps suggests that figures reported by F1 are rounded up to the nearest thousand.
The 2025 Italian Grand Prix slots in as the fourth-best-attended race weekend of the 2025 season to date, bettered by the British Grand Prix (500,000), the Australian Grand Prix (465,500) and the Belgian Grand Prix (389,000).
Last year, the Monza race ended the season as the sixth-best-attended event. It is likely to do so again in 2025, with attendance figures for the United States Grand Prix and the Mexico City Grand Prix expected to be over 400,000.
Total Formula 1 attendance in 2025 now stands at over 4.6 million, with the sport remaining on track to beat its record of 6.5 million from last season.
2025 Italian Grand Prix Marks Monza’s 75th F1 Race
At the 2025 Italian Grand Prix, held in F1’s 75th anniversary season, Monza became the first circuit to have hosted as many as 75 rounds of the World Championship. The track has been ever-present on the calendar with the exception of 1980, when renovation work meant that the Italian Grand Prix moved to Imola.
Monza holds a contract to remain on the calendar until at least 2031, with the 2030s marking the ninth decade in which the venue will host Formula 1 races. It is one of 12 circuits with a contract which lasts until 2031 or beyond. Last week, the Monaco Grand Prix signed a new contract which will keep the principality on the schedule until at least 2035.
The 2026 Italian Grand Prix is set to take place on September 4-6. Ticket sales for the race begin on September 9, with an 8% discount available for fans who bought tickets to either of this year’s F1 races in Italy.
