It’s all change at one of Europe’s cheapest and best-attended racetracks, with the main pit building and most grandstands at the Hungaroring having been rebuilt for the 40th consecutive edition of the Hungarian Grand Prix in August, 2025. A mainstay on the calendar since 1986, the event was the first race to be held behind the Iron Curtain. Times have changed and facilities have progressed and improved greatly since the sport’s first visit to the track.
This year, the Hungarian Grand Prix returns to its traditional calendar slot as the last race before the summer break. The Hungaroring is set to remain on the calendar until at least 2032, with a commitment from the circuit to improve its facilities. There’s always plenty to be excited about on track at the Hungaroring. An outlier circuit, often referred to as ‘Monaco without the walls’, the Hungaroring regularly throws up unexpected results.

Tickets & Packages Still Available
Tickets are already on sale for the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring, and many popular ticket categories are already sold out. With most grandstands being rebuilt for 2025, the organizers have taken the opportunity to confuse everyone by changing all the grandstand names, as well as raise prices. Most tickets remain relatively affordable, however, and the Hungaroring still offers some of the best grandstand views on the calendar. Recommended places to watch the action include the final corner and first corner. F1 Experiences Ticket Packages are also on sale for 2025. Where to Stay
Warm weather and the distance of the Hungaroring from the center of Budapest make camping a popular choice for fans attending the Hungarian Grand Prix. There’s several popular campsites right next to the track that always sell out well before race weekend. If you prefer creature comforts and don’t mind a commute of 30-90 minutes each way getting to/from the track, then there’s a huge range of affordable accommodation in Budapest. Apartment rentals are popular in the city, which also has a good supply of 5-star international chain hotels. The flat Pest side of the city has more accommodation, dining and nightlife, and is also closer to the Hungaroring than the hillier Buda side of the city. Off Track in Budapest
With the Hungaroring located close to Budapest, the event gives you the opportunity to enjoy a summertime break in one of Europe’s most picturesque and affordable cities. We recommend purchasing a Budapest Card to get the most out of your trip to the city. Budapest is packed with architectural and cultural delights. We’ve rounded up the best places to visit on your Hungarian Grand Prix trip in Off-Track Activities.
Great Vantage Points at Affordable Prices
The grandstands at the Hungaroring give some of the best views of the track at any circuit on the calendar, though only the covered Hungaroring (previously Super Gold) grandstand on the main straight offers protection from the hot sun. Be sure to take sunscreen and stay hydrated over the race weekend!
Perhaps one of the biggest draws to the event is the cheap ticket prices. We rate the Hungarian Grand Prix as one of the best value for money races on the calendar, thanks to the overall low cost of a trip to the event paired with the excellent selection of on-track action.
On average, 3-day tickets for 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix are the sixth-cheapest on the 2025 calendar. Despite higher prices in 2025, the Chicane 1 & 2 (previously Bronze 1 & 2) grandstands remain amongst the cheapest of any grandstand on the current Formula 1 calendar, while General Admission access is also very affordable.
We estimate that the average fan will spend €845 ($960 USD) on a trip to the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix, including the cost of a 3-day grandstand ticket, a three night stay in a Budapest hotel, plus daily spending money. Check out our Budget Planner for the full breakdown on what you can expect to spend in Hungary.
Record Attendance at the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix?
For the second year running, weekend attendance at the Hungarian Grand Prix was above 300,000 in 2024. It’s not yet known if the reconstruction of the grandstands at the Hungaroring ahead of the 2025 race will increase capacity at the popular circuit, but it’s clear that interest in attending the Hungarian Grand Prix – the cheapest race to attend in Europe – has been increasing strongly in recent years. The race attracts fans from all over Europe and beyond, including a sizeable contingent of Max Verstappen’s traveling ‘oranje army’ of fans.
With 2025 tickets already selling very fans, we recommend General Admission ticket holders arrive early in order to secure the best vantage points. We also recommend exercising caution when leaving the venue after the race on Sunday. In recent years, pathways have become overcrowded when a mass of fans attempted to leave the grandstands at the same time.
Getting to the Hungaroring
Getting to and from the circuit can be tricky, especially given the higher attendances in recent years. The easiest way to get to the circuit (but not the cheapest way) is to take an official Főtaxi. Trains are also available with a shuttle bus to get you to the circuit. Don’t be in a hurry to leave the circuit at the end of the day if you want to avoid large queues for taxis and shuttle buses. Consider relaxing for a bit longer in the Fanzone, or walk 30 minutes to the closest train station to the circuit. More information: How to Get to the Hungaroring – 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix
Support Races at the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix
As with most European Grands Prix, motorsport fans will get to see plenty of racing aside from Formula 1 on track at the Hungarian Grand Prix. It has already been confirmed that Formula 2 & Formula 3 will be racing at the Hungaroring in 2025 and will be joined by the Porsche Supercup. Formula 2 and Formula 3 will contest two races each (a Sprint Race on Saturday and a Feature Race on Sunday), while the only Porsche Supercup race is held before the Grand Prix on Sunday. The expected on-track timetable with all the session times for Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3 and Porsche Supercup can be found in Trackside.
Trackside at the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix
When there is no action happening on track at the Hungarian Grand Prix, head to the new fan zone up behind the final corner for a range of entertainment. This includes driver reaction challenges, pit stop challenges and F1 simulators. There’s also usually the chance to take a look at the World Championship trophy and have your photo taken on the podium. The drivers also make appearances on the stage in the fan zone on either Friday or Saturday.
On Thursday, a pit lane walk takes place for fans who’ve purchased an additional ticket for the event. This used to be free for all 3-day ticket holders until higher attendances at the race meant that Thursday’s crowd numbers needed to be better controlled. Tickets were introduced for the pit lane walk in 2023, limiting numbers to approximately 7,500 fans. For the pit lane walk at the 2025 race, Thursday tickets are now on sale, priced at €40. They are expected to sell out quickly. You can find all the vital information about watching the race, including session times, in Trackside.
