Callaway Chrome Tour Halloween: Horror Movies, Not Kindergarten Crafts

Callaway has released its Chrome Tour Halloween collection and it’s clear the company’s design team spends October binge-watching horror classics instead of carving pumpkins with their kids.

Forget the cutesy jack-o’-lanterns and friendly ghosts you’ll find on every other Halloween golf ball. Callaway went full horror film festival with this drop, delivering four designs that pay homage to the genre while avoiding most of the cartoon cliches.

Performance-wise, it’s Chrome Tour—you know what you’re getting. But with four distinct designs inspired by horror cinema, the real story here is the aesthetics.

The chainsaw

Nothing says “I take my golf seriously” quite like a chainsaw-adorned golf ball. Is it a reference to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre? Probably. Will it make your buddies uncomfortable when you pull it out on the first tee? Probably not, but for the sake of hyping this up, let’s say your playing partners will be terrified of what’s coming.

The black chainsaw graphic screams that you’re here to cut through the competition. Or at least that you have questionable taste in golf ball graphics. Either way, it’s a conversation starter.

The VHS tape

For those of us old enough to remember having to rewind movies before returning them to Blockbuster (talk about a horrifying experience), the VHS tape design hits different. It’s a not-so-subtle nod to every grainy horror film that kept you up at night in the ’80s and ’90s.

Will the younger golfers in your group get the reference? Probably not. Will that make you feel ancient? Definitely. But at least you’ll look cool doing it.

The eerie movie clapper

If the chainsaw was subtle (it wasn’t), the movie clapper with blood splatter is about as on-the-nose as it gets. And honestly? We’re here for it.

This design basically screams “I’m a horror movie buff” without you having to explain why you’ve seen Scream 17 times. The red accent pops against the white ball, making it easy to spot in the rough—assuming you don’t lose it in the woods while trying to film your own found-footage golf disaster.

The handprint

The bloodied handprint design is peak horror aesthetic. It’s the kind of graphic that makes you wonder if someone in Callaway’s marketing department is still processing some childhood trauma.

This is the ball you play when you want everyone in your foursome to know you’re dead serious about your round. Or when you want to leave a lasting impression on the group behind you when they find your abandoned ball in the hazard.

The bottom line

Look, you’re not buying these balls because they perform differently than standard Chrome Tour. You’re buying them because it’s October, you love horror movies, and you want to stand out from the sea of basic white golf balls at your local muni.

Callaway could have gone the easy route with pumpkins and ghosts. Instead, they leaned into the horror genre hard enough to make even the most jaded film buff appreciate the effort. Whether you’re a fan of classic slashers or just someone who enjoys showing up on the first tee with something a little bit different, this collection delivers.

The Chrome Tour Halloween collection is available now, which means you’ve got just enough time to grab a dozen before they disappear faster than teenagers in a slasher flick.
