Canelo Alvarez is set to make a substantial amount of money later tonight (Sat., May 3, 2025) at “Fatal Fury” LIVE on DAZN pay-per-view (PPV) from inside ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, when he puts his super middleweight crown on the line against undefeated contender William Scull.
Saturday’s main event clash will be Canelo’s first appearance since signing a lucrative four-fight deal with Riyadh Season earlier this year. Canelo gave up a nearly-finalized superfight with Jake Paul in the process, but it was a good move for the 34-year-old boxing superstar as he tries to cement his legacy as one of the best to ever do it. Defending his title for the ninth-straight time and handing Scull his first professional loss is another step towards that goal.
As part of Canelo’s financial-friendly deal with Riyadh and Saudi Arabia’s Turki Alalshikh, he’s expected to earn an estimated $80 million for Saturday’s main event. This is according to Spanish news outlet Marca. Of course, that figure could climb depending on final PPV numbers, ticket sales, and merchandise revenue. Not too shabby considering Canelo is currently a -3000 betting favorite to take care of Scull.
Speaking of Scull, the 32-year-old Cuban fighter is expected to earn in excess of $3 million for his title fight with Canelo. The final number hasn’t been revealed, but either way this is the biggest pay day of Scull’s boxing career and the biggest opportunity he’ll likely ever get.
