George Foreman will forever be remembered as one of the greatest heavyweights ever. Since his death, positive messages regarding the knockout artist have flowed in, and Canelo Alvarez is the latest to share his thoughts about the iconic boxer.

An Olympic gold medal is just one of the many honors ‘Big’ George managed to win during his career. Winning 76 of his 81 fights, the boxing legend left a mark on future generations who will commend him for his destructive power in the ring.

One of George Foreman’s admirers is none other than Canelo Alvarez. Another man considered one of the greats of his generation had much to say about Foreman following his passing.

“I never had the pleasure [of meeting] him, to be honest,” Alvarez said about Foreman after the sad news of his death. “I never had the pleasure to know him.”

“I always saw him [saying] good things about me, and obviously I respect [him] as a fighter. He is one of the best fighters in the history of boxing.”

“He won a world title at 40 or 48 years old. I don’t remember it really well, but you know, you need to appreciate that.”

George Foreman retired at 28 to delve further into his religious beliefs. After returning a decade later, Foreman went on a sensational run, winning 24 straight fights until losing to Evander Holyfield in their WBA, WBC, and IBF heavyweight title clash.

Three years later, the then 45-year-old would defeat Michael Moorer to capture the WBA and IBF heavyweight championships.

The legendary George Foreman would later retire following a loss to Shannon Briggs in 1997, bringing an end to a phenomenal career spanning almost 30 years.
