Derrick Lewis is not done yet.
After being counted out all week in the lead up to UFC Nashville, “The Black Beast” took things personal. In only 35 seconds, Lewis put away 8-1 Tallison Teixeira and electrified the arena.
Derrick Lewis: UFC Nashville winner
UFC Nashville seemed like a coronation of the new contender, Tallison Teixeira. Only 25 years old, he was lined up to take out the 40 year old Derrick Lewis and announce his coming to the UFC’s heavyweight division.
Derrick Lewis had other plans.
After getting hurt with a thumb in the eye and Teixeira pushing, Lewis got the lead out and chalked the Brazilian before he could break a sweat. Teixeira was recovering and trying to pull himself up on the fence. It was then that the referee saw it fit to end the fight.
Of course, after the fight there were all the usual Lewis shenanigans. The win has people curious about a title shot with Tom Aspinall, the new heavyweight champion.
Elsewhere on UFC Nashville
The main event was a short lived slobberknocker. The rest of UFC Nashville was not a bad card either.
