Derrick Lewis proudly revealed his love for cheating during fights, insisting that he bends the rules at will to gain any advantage possible.
‘The Black Beast’ has gained somewhat of a class clown reputation, with fans falling in love with his ability on the mic and not just his fighting style. During a recent interview, the Texan made another hilarious claim about his career inside the octagon, though this time of an illegal nature.
According to Derrick Lewis, he has purposely cheated in several UFC fights for his personal gain.
“I’ll cheat in a fight,” Lewis said. “Sh*t, I know one time, I kneed [my opponent] in the nuts.”
“I need him in the nuts, right off the bat. Like, as soon as the fight started, I kneed him in the nuts on purpose. Just because I wanted to get my nerves to calm down.”
Lewis then doubled down on his statement.
“Yeah, I cheat. Sh*t, any means necessary. If I want to start poking the eyes and all of that, I’ll poke you in the eye.”
“[I do it] because you’re going to get a warning. They’re not going to take a point as soon as you poke somebody in the eye. Sh*t, everybody knows that.”

“Yeah, so I’m going to knee them in the nuts, poke them in the eye, I’ll do whatever illegal. Then I’ll be like, ‘Oh, my bad, I didn’t even mean to do that.'”
“Just know that if I do that in any of my previous fights, I’m laughing on the inside…”
“I know what I’m doing when I’m out there, I’ve had enough fights… I’m going to stick try to poke you in your eye if my nerves aren’t right.”
Derrick Lewis returns to the cage to face the dangerous Tallison Teixeira on July 12; his first outing since May last year.
