Does Ciryl Gane Think He’s Ready For The Challenge Of Alex Pereira?

UFC star Ciryl Gane believes that he is prepared for the challenge coming his way in the form of two-weight UFC world champion Alex Pereira.

In the co-main event of UFC Freedom 250, Ciryl Gane will go head to head with Alex Pereira for the UFC interim heavyweight championship. The two will battle it out at the White House, and the hope for the Frenchman is that he will finally be able to get over the line and win an undisputed world title fight.

After failing against Francis Ngannou, Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall, now is the time for Ciryl Gane to get it done – and at the fourth attempt, some fans are already pretty surprised that he was given the call for this, especially when you consider the eye injuries he inflicted on Tom Aspinall in his most recent outing.

In a recent interview, Ciryl Gane had the following to say about what lies ahead of him later this month.

Ciryl Gane discusses Alex Pereira challenge

“I’ve never fought outdoors, so it’s gonna be special,” said Gane, who was still in Paris as of Monday. “That’s why when we arrive in a few days in Washington, we’re going to start training outside. … Nobody enjoys hot and humid a little bit, so that’s why we have to be prepared for it.”

“We will see if something happens before the fight,” Gane said. “But for me, the feeling is yes, it’s gonna be an interim belt, but the feeling is gonna be different for sure. At first because of my opponent; he’s a huge champion. And because also the type of this event. I don’t know how to say, but the feeling is gonna be different for sure. …

“This is the life of a fighter. This is my target, just fighting for this. I’m ready to sacrifice just for this. This is my target. I’m not looking for anything else. My mission is to win this belt.”

There are going to be plenty of doubters out there and for someone like Gane, that isn’t anything new. Alas, between those who continue to blame him for what happened to Aspinall and people being huge fans of Pereira, this is going to be a whole new kind of pressure – especially because this will probably be his last shot at the big one.
