As most expected, Jake Paul suffered the first knockout defeat of his career at the hands of Anthony Joshua. Despite being hit with a huge right hand and being rendered unable to continue, Paul received plaudits, but arguably none bigger than the praise he received from the president of the United States, Donald Trump.
‘The Problem Child’ had some believing that his power, coupled with his opponent’s alleged inability to take a punch, would be enough for him to cause an upset. While that wasn’t the case, the YouTuber still had a performance to be proud of, surviving for over five rounds and landing a few big shots of his own.
Many were happy to see Jake Paul lose, expecting this to be the end of his boxing experiment. One man siding with the social media star was Donald Trump, who instead gave the influencer his flowers.
“On the plane, I just got to watch the Jake Paul fight, and he did really well,” Trump said while watching the Paul vs. Joshua bout. “Especially as a display of GREAT courage against a very talented and large Anthony Joshua.”
The size difference was on full display during their time in the ring, with Joshua boasting the much larger frame.

Jake Paul attempted to use the height and weight discrepancy to his advantage. Paul was constantly on the move, refusing to be trapped and avoiding anything significant for the majority of the fight.
While the game plan was initially working, it eventually led to his downfall. As the rounds went by, the 28-year-old became visibly more fatigued, and his admirable performance came to an end when a worn-down Paul was unable to prevent Joshua’s offense.
“Fantastic entertainment,” Trump continued. “But kudos to Jake for his stamina, and frankly, ability against a much bigger man!”
