France’s Manon Fiorot steps into the biggest fight of her career on Saturday in the UFC 315 co-main event. Fiorot takes on two-time women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko.
Shevchenko (24–4–1) won back the women’s 125-pound championship in her last outing dominating former champion Alexa Grasso. UFC 315 will be the first title defense of her second championship reign.
Fiorot (12-1) brings with her a 12-fight winning streak. “The Beast” hasn’t lost a fight since her professional debut in 2018.
“I respect her. She’s a great champion. She has a lot of experience. But she’s not better than me and I’ll show it on Saturday,” Fiorot told SHAK MMA.
Fiorot got under Shevchenko’s skin by saying she’s retire her. Shevchenko fired back saying that if she wins that Fiorot should hang up the gloves. Fiorot agreed.
“I say yes because I know I’m not losing,” Fiorot said. “I have the physical advantage. We saw it yesterday when we did the face-off.”
Fiorot has wanted to fight Shevchenko for awhile. She’ll get that chance on Saturday, but believes “Bullet” didn’t want the matchup.
“When she does interviews and someone asks her, ‘What is next for you,’ she. never speaks about me. I never heard my name, so clearly I think she still don’t want that smoke and now I’m great to have it.”
