Ryan Hall Eyes Big MMA Return, And An Ex-ONE Title Challenger Would Mutilate His Own Genitals To Get It

Ryan Hall is mapping out a surprising comeback to the UFC, and a former ONE Championship title challenger is willing to undergo genital mutilation to secure that return fight with the submission magician. The combatant in question is Garry Tonon, who is known for making eccentric, wild jokes and expressed as such on his social media recently by invoking an uncomfortable instance that affected the “family jewels” of Bryce Mitchell.

For context, Mitchell had a power drill accident in August 2018 that saw him trigger a power drill in his pocket that damaged his scrotum. The tear required surgical intervention, as well as months off of training to heal the rip sustained by ‘Thug Nasty’.

Tonon has ample submission grappling tricks in his game, both within MMA and across a decorated submission grappling run that was accomplishment-laden before he donned the 4oz gloves. Taking to his personal X account to indicate his desire to have a jiu-jitsu-fuelled super fight in a mixed martial arts contest with Ryan Hall, Tonon said,

“I would take a @ThugnastyMMA level power drill accident to the groin for this fight. If you guys want to see it let it be known, it’s the only way it will happen. @ufc @danawhite.”

Ryan Hall’s UFC rise to his nearly half-decade absence

Ryan Hall surged through the ranks of the Ultimate Fighting Championship with his compelling submission grappling approach, but he has been on the sidelines for nearly five years now. ‘The Wizard’ entered the UFC radar on the twenty-second season of The Ultimate Fighter in 2015 amid a path that saw Hall eventually cement himself as the TUF champ for that season, outright.

From that point, Hall clashed with former UFC title challengers, former UFC champions, and future UFC champions alike, with names like Gray Maynard, BJ Penn, and Ilia Topuria on his ledger.

His last octagon-based outing took place at UFC 269 when he defeated Darrick Minner in December 2021, but it seems like the 41-year-old has a couple more throw downs in him. This was revealed during a podcast interview with Matt Serra, as Hall stated [via MMA Mania],

“It’s been awhile, man. I hadn’t really trained in almost three years. I’m still good, but not sharp, if that makes sense. I’m working to get back to it. I had 23 surgeries in three years. That wasn’t great, and some of them were pretty major. And some of them the doctors goofed up, which they had to do again. I want to come back to do well, but it’s also for my son.”

“He’s only seven, and he’s spent most of his life seeing his dad be a mess. I want to come back, win, lose or draw, and show him something a little bit different. I know I have enough left for one or two more fights at a very high level. It’s just whether or not we get the opportunity because you never know where life will take you.”
