Sean O'Malley back to smoking weed in UFC 324 training camp: 'I missed it'

Former UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley was an avid marijuana smoker. He never hid his marijuana use regularly consuming while on air during his podcast on YouTube. The channel was sponsored by marijuana-relate products. That all changed when he lost the title.

“Suga” decided to make lifestyle changes after losing the championship to Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 306. Heading into their UFC 316 rematch, O’Malley had cut social media and marijuana out of his life, among other things.

O’Malley hasn’t returned to social media but has returned to consuming cannabis ahead of his UFC 324 match against No. 5 ranked Song Yadong.

“I have not been on social media this year, and it feels good,” O’Malley said on the Ariel Helwani Show. “I feel better. I feel better. I feel like there’s less noise, pointless noise in my head… I feel more free. I feel noticeably better,” O’Malley said.

“I actually have been smoking my marijuana again, and God damn it I missed it,” said the former champion. “I hit my vaporizer once, twice a night, a little puff, and it just feels good.”

O’Malley has implemented other changes to his UFC 324 training camp. He brought in a movement expert and believes the decision is paying off.

“It’s kind of like playing touch butt in the park. Kind of like that kind of stuff, but it’s been really nice,” O’Malley said. “We meet in the warehouse and just wake the body up with some movement. It’s a very simple concept, but it goes a long way.

“These last few years my body has just felt broken down. Just been feeling like just hard to get through a week of good, hard training. This movement I feel like is really going to help, and it has been helping already. I’ve already noticed some differences in the movement in my spine and range of motion in my joints. I’m feeling better, noticeably better. I’m excited and I feel like this is going to add years to my career,” O’Malley continued.

“I really want to fight until the f**king wheels fall off. I don’t want to get out too early. I don’t want to get out too late, but I do want to push it and fight for a while and I can only do that if the body holds up. So, I feel like this is going to be a great addition to the team.”
