Over Fourth of July weekend, president Donald Trump announced plans to host a UFC event on the White House grounds on Independence Day 2026.
“Every one of our national parks, battlefields and historic sites are going to have special events in honor of America 250, and I even think we’re going to have a UFC fight,” Trump said on July 3.
“We’re going to have a UFC fight, think of this, on the grounds of the White House. We have a lot of land there. We’re going to build a little, we’re not, Dana’s [White] going to do it. Dana’s great. One of a kind,” continued Trump.
UFC CEO Dana White and staff traveled to the White House to work out the logistics and several fighters have requested to compete on the historic fight card.
Former bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley revealed who he’d enlist to fight at the White House if he were the matchmaker.
“If we get to pick whatever, Conor [McGregor]. Conor for sure. I mean, sh*t, Conor versus Ilia [Topuria] would probably be the top one,” O’Malley recently said on the Overdogs Podcast.
“Izzy [Israel Adesanya] versus [Sean] Strickland 2. I would like to see that. I think that would be a banger up there. [Jon] Jones versus [Tom] Aspinall. The one everyone wants to see,” O’Malley continued. “Max Holloway. Max Holloway versus f**king anybody. He’s so fun to watch.
“I think you’ve got to do America versus Russia, or just like Americans versus someone else. Colby [Covington] versus Ian Garry.”

If O’Malley ends up getting the call to fight at the White House, he has some potential opponents in mind.
“Me versus Cory [Sandhagen] is kind of like the more – I mean me versus Petr [Yan] 2, I feel like that would be a banger. Me versus Cory. Me versus Merab [Dvalishvili] 3. No. I’m just kidding,” he said.
