This Weekend’s Important To See Who I Face Next

PFL San Diego features multiple consequential contests set in the flyweight division, and one of the promotion’s big stars at 125 pounds has weighed in on those matchups. The combatant in question is Dakota Ditcheva, who has her own high-stakes bout coming up against Denise Kielholtz at PFL New York in the co-main event next month.

With PFL’s California trek tomorrow night kicking off the promotion’s Summer Series, Ariane Lipski da Silva takes on Jena Bishop. Also on June 27th, Liz Carmouche is embarking on an enthralling homecoming fight against Viviane Araujo. PFL CEO John Martin told Bowks Talking Bouts that the promotion is mapping out cementing a flyweight champion by year’s end, with all aforementioned fighters in prime position to jettison toward such a spot.

Someone who also spoke to BTB was the aforementioned UK star, and when Dakota Ditcheva was asked for her thoughts on those two particular fights at PFL San Diego and where everyone fits into this broader title chase, Ditcheva said [via Bowks Talking Bouts],

“Yeah, I think the Liz fight is very important who wins that one. But also Ariane, I think she’s in a good position, too. So, if she wins on the weekend, it could put her in a really good position. Obviously, I’m going to win July. So, that’ll keep me at the top and see who [wins these fights]. I think this weekend’s important to see who I face next.”

PFL San Diego and the two other flyweights nipping at the heels of these aforementioned fighters

PFL San Diego also features another intriguing flyweight fight, which pits an established LFA champ who is making her first foray into the Smart Cage against someone who is quite tenured on the Bellator MMA and PFL circuits. The two mixed martial artists being referenced are Shannon Clark and Ilara Joanne, respectively. The Canadian combatant can make a name for herself quickly right away, but Clark is faced with a stiff test in the stalwart Brazilian bruiser, Joanne.

PFL encroaching onto California is serving up quite a bit of action for those who appreciate the lightning-fast action and technical proficiency that come from clashes at 125 pounds.
