The Miami Heat and Andrew Wiggins have agreed to a new three-year, $64 million contract that will lower Wiggins’ annual salary in exchange for a longer-term deal, a team source confirmed to The Athletic.

Wiggins, 31, was slated to earn $30.1 million next season if he picked up his player option. He and the Heat instead agreed on a new long-term arrangement that will add $34 million in his last two years and spread the total amount over three seasons, according to the source, who requested anonymity to discuss the agreement. The deal gives the Heat more flexibility to fill out their roster this summer after trading for Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Wiggins, the No. 1 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, averaged 15.4 points while shooting 41.4 percent from 3 last season. The Heat initially acquired Wiggins from the Golden State Warriors as part of the trade involving Jimmy Butler in 2024.

Wiggins will likely slot into the Heat’s third frountcourt starting spot alongside Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo.

The Heat are hard-capped at the first apron and have up to five roster spots to fill. By agreeing to this reworked contract, Wiggins has enabled the Heat to have around $10 million of extra space to fill out their roster. They are in need of perimeter shooting after dealing Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Kasparas Jakučionis to Milwaukee in the Antetokounmpo trade.
