San Antonio Spurs guard De’Aaron Fox said he’s not sure that he’ll be ready to play on opening night. Fox is recovering from surgery on his left pinkie finger that ended last season prematurely. On top of that, the veteran point guard suffered a right hamstring injury that may cause him to miss the Spurs opener.
Fox inked a four-year extension with San Antonio this offseason that is projected to be worth more than $222 million. This was the Spurs acquired Fox from the Sacramento Kings ahead of last season’s trade deadline. San Antonio envisions the veteran floor leader as a long-term running mate for star big man Victor Wembanyama.
The Spurs may also be without second overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft Dylan Harper for opening night. Harper is recovering from thumb surgery. San Antonio opens their season on Wednesday, October 22 at the Dallas Mavericks.
