JJ Redick praised Bronny James’ play despite James shooting 1-12 in the Los Angeles Lakers’ preseason loss to the Phoenix Suns on Friday night.
James finished with eight points.
“He is so much more comfortable and confident as a player,” Redick said of James following the game. “Skill-wise, read-wise, all of those things have improved, but there’s a big difference between improving those things in individual workouts and small group settings and doing it 5-on-5. … He’s a totally different player than he was a year ago.”
James, who played 24 minutes, shot 1-of-8 from three.
James added that he felt comfortable despite the stat line.
“Definitely felt like I was more comfortable, especially with the ball in my hands, and with the defensive and offensive schemes,” James said. “But I’m just trying to feel it out. Feeling my way still and just continuing to grow.”
The Lakers play the Warriors on Sunday for their second preseason game. LeBron James and Luka Doncic will both sit the matchup.
