It’s well known that Steph Curry is a lock for induction Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame once he’s eligible.
And why not? He’s a four-time NBA champion, two-time NBA MVP (including being the league’s first unanimous) and the greatest 3-point shooter in hoops history.
Curry’s name resides alongside that of his hopeful future teammate, LeBron James, as this generation’s two strongest locks for enshrinement into basketball immortality.
Hall of Fame rules state players must be retired for two full seasons before induction. But on Tuesday, the Hall announced it couldn’t wait to honor Curry.
It unveiled a new limited-time exhibit, “Stephen Curry: Beyond the Arc,” as the newest addition to its gallery, “The Vault.” Curry becomes the NBA’s first active player to receive a dedicated solo exhibit in the Hall. It will open July 24 in partnership with Curry’s Thirty Ink business team.
“Developed as the next iteration of the Hall of Fame’s acclaimed gallery, ‘The Vault,’ this immersive experience is designed to explore Stephen Curry’s multifaceted legacy as a basketball icon, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and family man,” the Hall wrote in its announcement on X, accompanied by a promotional highlight video.
He inspired a generation to dream bigger and shoot farther. Now, for the first time in its nearly 75-year history, the Hall of Fame will feature a dedicated experience honoring an active NBA player.

Rather than a permanent installation, “The Vault” is a rotating immersive gallery highlighting one featured story at a time. It opened in June 2024 with its inaugural exhibit, “The Vault: Boston Celtics Unlocked.” That installation celebrated the historic Celtics franchise, connecting legends such as Bill Russell and Larry Bird with current All-Stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Brown was recently traded to the Philadelphia 76ers.
While Tatum and Brown were active players featured as part of the Celtics exhibit, Curry is the first active individual player to receive an exhibit.
According to an NBA.com announcement, “Visitors can expect a captivating, curated journey through Curry’s life,” featuring memorabilia, rare footage, and immersive audio and video storytelling.
“Being part of the Basketball Hall of Fame in this way is hard to put into words,” Curry said in the NBA release. “When I think about my journey, I think about the people who believed in me, the work that happened when nobody was watching and the moments that shaped me on and off the court. To have that story told while I’m still playing is something I don’t take lightly.

“My hope is that fans walk through this experience and feel the joy, the purpose and the gratitude that basketball has given me, and maybe see a little bit of their own journey in it too.”
Curry’s NBA résumé has long since moved beyond any debate about his eventual Hall of Fame induction. As mentioned, his basketball bonafides are plentiful, especially given his indelible mark as the greatest shooter the sport has ever seen.
His 4,248 career 3-pointers are nearly 1,000 more than second-place James Harden (3,390), and during his meteoric climb atop that list, he fundamentally changed how basketball is played.
According to Basketball Reference, since Curry was drafted seventh overall in 2009, the average NBA team’s 3-point makes and attempts have more than doubled, increasing from 6.4 made 3s per game during the 2009-10 season to 13.3 during the last regular season.
In 2015-16, Curry became the first unanimous MVP in NBA history, earning his second consecutive league MVP award. It remains one of only two seasons in his career in which he averaged at least 30 points while shooting at least 40 percent from 3-point range. Since the NBA adopted the 3-pointer in 1979-80, only two other players have ever accomplished that feat: Damian Lillard in 2019-20 and Michael Jordan in 1995-96. Curry did so making 5.1 of 11.2 attempts from deep a game. That season also marked the first of his two career scoring titles.

All of it came from an under-recruited guard who captivated the basketball world during his NCAA tournament runs at mid-major Davidson before becoming a global star with the Warriors, with whom he has spent his entire 17-year career.

Any doubt surrounding Curry’s eventual Hall of Fame induction disappeared years ago. Now, the Hall couldn’t even wait for him to retire before honoring one of the most influential players in basketball history.
Curry is immortalized while still building his legacy.
“I could not think of anyone more fitting for this incredible honor than Stephen Curry,” Golden State Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy said in the release. “For him to become the first active player to have an exhibit in the Basketball Hall of Fame is a testament to what he represents to the game, to the Warriors, to the NBA and to his millions of fans around the world.
“Obviously, this is only a prelude to his eventual induction in Springfield, but a fitting tribute to an iconic player and an amazing human being who has singlehandedly changed the game.”
