After overcoming a gruelling playoff run, Jalen Brunson is taking care of his body.
Brunson is expected to return to basketball activities later in the summer, after playing through the left wrist injury during the Knicks’ championship run, according to Charania.
The Finals MVP played in all 19 post-season games for New York, averaging 28.4 points (first in the NBA), 3.2 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.2 steals and 36.9 minutes. He led the Knicks to a five-game title-series win over the San Antonio Spurs, delivering the Big Apple its first NBA championship in 53 years.
Brunson did all of that after making 74 regular-season appearances and finishing the year with a third all-star and all-NBA selection. He finished the 2025-26 campaign with averages of 26.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 6.8 assists.
Knicks fans will certainly be hoping Brunson is back before the start of the team’s championship defence — pre-season action begins on Oct. 9. Brunson will be entering his fifth season with New York and ninth in the NBA since he was drafted 33rd overall by the Dallas Mavericks in 2018.
