With the Nico Harrison era over, the Dallas Mavericks could start looking toward the future.
The Mavericks are expected to start listening to trade calls for star centre Anthony Davis, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Wednesday.
“This franchise is moving away from Nico Harrison’s three to four year championship window, and toward trying to find sustained success,” Charania said on ESPN’s NBA Countdown. “… The Mavericks will be listening to trade calls for Anthony Davis and seeing and exploring his value.”
Davis, of course, was the main piece of the return in Harrison’s widely criticized trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Harrison was fired last week, nine months after the trade.
Doncic was a 25-year-old generational point guard in his prime when Harrison unloaded him for the oft-injured Davis, who has missed 34 of 48 regular-season games since his arrival in February.
Davis, 32, has played in just five games this season and is currently out with a calf injury.
Despite winning the lottery and selecting Cooper Flagg No. 1 overall, with Davis and Kyrie Irving both out with injuries, the Mavericks are off to a 4-11 start this season and sit 13th in the Western Conference.
